MOTM - July 23, 2008

Good turnout for a happy hour happening in the middle of intermittent deluges.
We were able to actually witness the beauty of Shunit's engagement ring. Since she has publicly displayed the ring, its likeness is now in the public domain so we will repost the picture so all can enjoy. She also almost divulged the identity of the lucky fellow who has captured our little girl's heart. We know that his name is Richard and he lives in Houston on Wakefield and is in real estate. That shouldn't be too hard to pin down with a few minutes on the Google, Pipl or Zabasearch.

We also got the news that J-Spot will soon be receiving a similar representation of another's affection for her. His name is Craig, he lives in Dallas and is an architect. Here's a picture of this ring.

Anybody else engaged? This is the place to publicize it.

Since most expressed a preference for every other week happy hours, we won't have one next week. Stay tuned for more information about future meetings.

Peace. Out

MOTM - TODAY! - Wednesday, July 23, 2008

Remember, MOTM Happy Hour(s) today starting at 5 pm at the Belmont. It looks like you picked the wrong week to stop drinking.
The theme for tonight's MOTM is excessively pressurized carbon attached to a digital extremity with a device constructed principally of historical substitutes for currency and other tokens of supposed life long commitment.
If you have recently given or received any symbol (tangible or intangible) designed to indicate that your emotional attachment to another person (regardless of the gender) is anything more than transitory and platonic, please be prepared to display and/or describe in full along with the circumstances surrounding same. Actual display of the symbol is preferred although artist's renderings, PowerPoint presentations or anecdotal evidence is also allowed, assuming that a basis for its introduction is established.
For historical purposes, one of the first recorded engagement rings involving diamonds was the arrangement between Maximilian I (then Archduke of Austria) to Mary of Burgundy in 1477. This will be useful in some future cocktail conversation, I'm sure.
See you tonight.
Peace. Out.

MOTM - Wednesday - July 23, 2008

MOTM will meet Wednesday this week. Wednesday, got it? At the Belmont. At about 5 pm.
Topics of discussion might include Shunit's engagement, but maybe it won't. Maybe we'll talk about how big the engagement ring is or maybe we won't. Maybe we will embarass her by making her the center of attention or maybe we won't. You'll have to attend to find out.

Maybe we will talk about Brangelina's twins: Knox Leon (5.03 lbs.) and Vivienne Marcheline (5 lbs.).
Or maybe we will talk about Pam Anderson's twins: Left (6.70 lbs.) and Right (6.72 lbs.).

Or maybe we'll talk about the world's oldest horse twins: Gee and Haw.

Or maybe we'll talk about conjoined twins: Always and Together (I really couldn 't come up with anything here.)
Or maybe we'll talk about our twin cousins from Jasper: Othel and Zilch.
Or maybe we'll talk about the Minnesota Twins: AL and Irrelevant
Or maybe we'll talk about the movie Twins: Guvenator and Funny.

Or maybe we'll talk about the Bush twins: Married and Happy.

Or maybe we'll just talk about Shunit.

Peace. Out.

No MOTM This Week, Although You Can Do What You Want.

I will not be able to participate in the ritual killing of liver cells this week as I will be attending some of NetRoots Nation, with the rest of the dirty f***king hippies.
However, next week we should make a real effort to get together as Shunit wants to attend and make a big announcement. I won't be a spoiler on this and the following picture has nothing to do with the announcement (Jedi mind trick)
[Picture removed by request of IEC, who fears for her own safety for divulging the picture]
Attend the next MOTM and hopefully see what the world yearns to see.

Peace. Out.

Maybe We Should Try For Once A Month (Or Never)?

When summer hit and apparently thirst for alcohol dried up (however counterintuitive that may be), and attendance at the weekly MOTMs ceased (one is the loneliest number), we went on hiatus. Maybe the hiatus should be extended and we should revisit this in the fall or maybe we should go to a regularly scheduled event but less frequently. I will post a poll for you to express your views, but if as many people read this as come to the MOTMs, voter turn out will be light. Anyway, vote below.

Anyway, if we were having it tonight, we could drink tonight. More's the pity.
Peace. Out.

Have a Great Fourth!

I wish you each a happy and safe holiday. We will return to a semi-regular schedule of drinking in the near future.
Remember, lay on ground, light fuse and move away to a safe distance.
If you find yourself on fire, drop and roll.

I leave you, without comment, some holiday pictures.

Sometimes the Good Guys Win and Sometimes Good Singers Sing Incoherently

For your consideration, I offer two entirely unrelated videos. The first involves water buffaloes, lions and crocodiles. You should watch it until the end even though it becomes difficult to watch. Trust me. The second one was prepared for the birthday of someone named April and features Joe Cocker at Woodstock and is subtitled with what he might really be singing. Better living through chemistry.

Peace. Out
