Finally, A Peace Proposal We Can All Support

I don't know about you but I'm all for supporting peace a day early (and on every other day). I'm just saying.
There are way too many bad puns that could come from this. Oops, I did it again. A drink on me for the best one. Rules: you can not use: "piece", "get behind this initiative", "keeping up the vigil", "all come together" or any variation thereof.

MOTM - December 20, 2007

Regular meeting of the MOTM tomorrow night in the manger area of the Belmont. There is some kind of tax gathering in the city so there is no room inside. Also, there are drink specials for expectant virgins. OK, stupid attempts at blasphemous humor aside, the holidays should not keep us from our drinking duties or from exchanging pleasantries and bodily fluids. See you there tomorrow night. To get you in the mood, here is the most relevant holiday video ever made:

MOTM - December 13, 2007

Well, another fine turnout. And one comprised of exceptionally attractive and intelligent members, I must say. And yes, I am talking about the MOTM last night at the Belmont.
Sharon and J-Spot set the tone and the high standard for the evening. Stacy Z. is becoming a regular fixture and that is cool. She wanted to start a discussion group on a report that scientists have developed cats that glow in the dark. Really. There are many double entendres and bad jokes to be made from that, but I am way too classy to engage in such. Well, actually I'm not, but I'll leave that to you. Beverly and Penny closed up shop to come down the hill and participate. Very nice. Stacy M. took time out from running apx. 700 miles a day to have a drink. How does she do that? Stephenie came in all aroused from kicking ass in a mediation. Seriously, you need family law help? She's your ticket. She also invited her room mate, who favored us with a visit. Steph, help me with her name here. Bad blood flow on my part and all that. Travis S. was a first timer. You should hurry up and sign up for his class here ("Renter's Dos and Don'ts") before it fills up. Aaron and Angel came down to slam one down and hit the road. Lone Star Todd was a no show again. Something about a tire. Sean C. came back and brought his lovely wife, as promised. All we wanted to do was ask her about her puppet class but she does much more than this in the Theater department at St. Eds. Originally from the Czech Republic where she first learned about puppets, she may have way too much talent and creativity. The Real Victoria, sans the J-Lo dress, finally showed up. There is much hope that in warmer weather, the J-Lo dress makes a debut. Claudia C. and Lisa M. both came in from the cold. It was good to see them again. Lisa's spousal unit also made an appearance. It's the additions to the group that help make this interesting and diversified.
My appearance was a little late and I had to leave early. Please post additions and corrections to this little missive.
Next week, same time, same place. The topics for discussion will be your favorite memory of the celebration of your chosen winter holiday: Hanukkah, Christmas, Diwali, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, Festivus, etc. Extra points and a free drink on me, if your name rhymes with your chosen holiday. Yes, and I think we have a potential winner.

MOTM - December 6, 2007

A fine turn out last night at the Belmont.
Stacy Z. made an early appearance and early departure. We'll take what we can get. Mike G. ("G-Low") was a welcome addition. Paula, Ryan D. and the lovely Tiana (sp?), JillyBean (now to be known as J-Spot by popular acclaim), Stephenie and Stuart all brought their special panache to the occasion. Sean C. was a participant. He has promised to bring his wife and her puppets to a subsequent gathering. Leslie B., fresh from her unfortunate encounter in a cross walk with a F-150, made the evening bright. Attendance on her part required some effort and we appreciate that. She also brought a friend that added a nice element to the occasion. Restricted blood flow to the memory organ makes her name presently unavailable to me. J-Spot also had a friend attend for a while but then it was determined that he had another friend so he left rather abruptly. Penny H. favored us with her presence. After all that she has had to deal with, I hope this provided a brief respite. Shunit favored us. However, in the presence of G-Low she slipped easily into her street persona. One time, when I was trying to engage her in small talk, she growled "If you don't start no shit, there won't be no shit". Nuf said. There were others in attendance and my failure to mention them is no reflection on their contribution, but a direct result of the memory organ thing mentioned above.
Todd, Angel and Aaron failed to be repeat offenders. Maybe Todd thought that Lone Star was not included in happy hour. Victoria also ditched us, again. Some rumor about a final or something. Anticipation was high regarding her promise to wear her J-Lo dress. Hopes were crushed.
Next week: Same time, same place. The Belmont was cooperative in arranging chairs and tables and attending to J-Spot's temperature needs.
Discussion topics for next week:
  1. War, what is it good for?
  2. "Book 'em Horns" rather than "Hook 'em Horns"?
  3. 10 best pick up bars in Austin not named Belmont.

Required dress: Dress as your favorite magi: Caspar, Melchior or Balthazar. Camels, gold, frankincense and myrrh optional. Extra points for having your own guiding star.

Peace out.

MOTM - December 6, 2007

Meeting of the Minds occurs again this afternoon at the Belmont. Hope to see you there.
Remember, come prepared to discuss these issues:
  1. Whether the Holy Roman Empire was holy or an empire?
  2. Whether Barry Bonds' records deserve an asterisk or an Rx symbol?
  3. Whether Bartholin's Duck should be placed on the endangered species list?

Also remember, tomorrow is Pearl Harbor Day, so to celebrate you can get bombed a day early. See what I did with that. It's the lowest form of humor but good enough for me.

Something to Make Your Spirits Bright

If you are not in the holiday spirit, this should start your movement in that direction. Also, still not too late for holiday delivery.

Nickname

Jill M. wants a nickname. Be moderately nice with your suggestions.
